Websites are interesting phenomena in marketing.  Just about anyone today can have a website created that gives customers the idea that your company is big, professional and experienced.  We want you to know that Beehavin' Apiary is a small company whose focus is on natural practices beekeeping. While our website may make us appear BIG we are proudly a "mom and pop" company working hard everyday to earn a living with the bees!

Mission Statement
Our mission is simple! We believe beekeeping is fun and yet it is complex because of the mites, pesticides and diseases that have worked their way into our honey bees' natural lives.  We need honey bees in order to survive and sadly, they need us to survive.  It shouldn't be so, but because of our actions they are now dependent on us to help them flourish and prosper.  Because of their critical impact on the quality of our food sources and their dwindling natural populations it is more critical than ever that backyard beekeepers rise to the occasion and keep bees.  We want to help!

We will share our experience, knowledge, sources and labor to help you keep bees.  For those of you that buy our honey and products, we strive to make the very best natural products that we can. You can count on us to seek ways to eliminate pesticides and chemicals. We purchase materials from local sources whenever we can and we try to be eco-friendly in all of our operations. We work on these things to earn your trust, everyday.

  • The apiary was established in Manville, RI in 1972.
  • Over the years we have developed a deep belief in natural practices.
  • We strive to buy from local and regional sources when we need something. We strive to have a personal relationship with the source in order to extend our hard earned trust, knowledge and good will to our Customers.
  • Southern New England consisting of Rhode Island, Massachusetts & Connecticut, is our local region.
  • Our woodenware is made from eastern white pine purchased from a local sawmill that saws local trees. We know the owners personally and consider them to be our friends.
  • We don’t use chemicals.
  • We believe each bee is precious.
  • We’re trying to develop a RI/MA/CT queen genetic line. This will take some time!
  • We are blessed with loyal customers and we can’t make all of the honey that they need so we often buy honey from trusted regional beekeepers with whom we have personal relationships.
  • We lend a hand to farmers who are struggling economically to pollinate their crops.
  • Education is important to us. We make presentations to local organizations; put on public seminars; teach bee schools; teach a course at Bristol County Community College and we lend advice to anyone who asks questions.  You are welcome to copy and use information on this website. We ask that you give us credit by citing us as the source.
  • We strive to be eco-friendly. We don’t use plastic or harmful hydrocarbons when we can avoid them. We don’t use glue in the hives because they often contain PVAs or urethanes or some other potentially harmful chemical that forms their basis.
  • We are pursuing bee pharmacology and nutrition to raise the healthiest bees in New England
  • We are members of bee clubs and associations such as RIBA, BCBA, MassBee, Worcester Bee, the Farm Bureau (RI and MA), and many others.
